What happens on Monday morning?

Contributed by stargazer on Friday, 25th July 2003 @ 08:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I can feel the rain upon my face,
its as if it feels what I am feeling-
like I could possibly be in love again.
And I told myself I would worry about my emotions tomorrow,
that tonight I just wanted to dance under the stars,
and be in love.
But then you asked to drive me home and I said no,
because I didn't want to go yet.
I wasn't ready to see Monday morning, in the dark.
My feelings were going hay-wire
and when I looked at you I got that feeling in my chest,
like I was unable to breathe.
And then you touched my hand
and I knew that I never wanted the song to end.
The end of tonight meant the start of Monday morning,
and I didn't know if we'd ever see each other again.
But then you asked to drive me home
and I said no,
because I didn't want to go yet.
I took your picture, I am going to post it around my room...
remembering the night I felt like I could fly.
And I could feel the rain upon my face,
it was as if it could feel what I was feeling.
And we danced like the sun would never come up,
and before I knew what was happening,
it was Monday morning...
and I was there,
with you and we were alone in the dark.
We were both trying to figure out who we were.
And I knew that I had fallen in love,
once again.

Nicely done poetically
---------------------------------
Monday morning always comes
Be prepared to add the sums,
Of the events that have occurred,
Make sure your mind's not overly blurred...

I don't get it... The first part of the poem seems to be talking about love in the sense that it is uncaring passion all caught up in the moment, like a one-night stand. But then the last line of the poem says "I had fallen in love once again," and the way i'm reading this, that could mean one of two different things. It could be used in the sense of "i fell in love AGAIN! God, i'm such a ho." Or it could mean like you actually fell into normal christ-sanctioned love with this man after only one night of knowing him, and if that's the case, then i think the persona in this poem has sort sort of sickness because that kind of love just doesn't come to full bloom in the span of like 12 hours or whatever... that sort of thing takes months or years to develop. Just some thoughts... Take them for what you will. Have a nice day and a good rest of your life, Butterat Zool.

I appreciate your views on this poem but I wrote it as I had fallen in love with my best friend again. it was after one night and I realized that my feelings were still there. Thank- you for the criticism... I'll remember that in the future. But yes... I wrote it as... we spent a night together and I saw that my feelings were there and I fell in love again... or back in love.

Oh, i get it now... i was thinking you were talking about a stranger, not a former lover... thanks for clearing that up. It all makes sense now! yeah, good write... way to go. :-) Butterat Zool.
