Deliver Us, Lord

Contributed by thedon on Saturday, 19th July 2003 @ 09:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Who shall deliver us of these afflictions?
To go above and beyond this law;
Hurt is our sister and Torment is our brother.
Yet, You alone are our Father who reigns with Mercy,

Who shall deliver us of these afflictions?
Toiling with the illnesses of the earth,
Ailed with that which guides them to fire,
All the while longing for the taste of Your Water.

Who shall deliver us from these afflictions?
No, Your back is not turned them,
Neither has Your power fled from you,
Nor do You sleep upon our troubles.

Who shall deliver us from these afflictions?
Surely, You are Mighty and True.
Search us Lord; find a fraction of good
A heart, a desire, a Spirit to serve, but not a flesh.

Who shall deliver us from these afflictions?
It is He who dangled upon a tree;
He who rose that all might see;
He who came and has made them free.

Who has delivered us from all our afflictions?
None other than Jehovah-Emanuel,
None other than the Bright & Morning Star.
His name is Jesus and He is “Deliverance.”
