once upon a flea

Contributed by ladyfawn on Friday, 18th July 2003 @ 04:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: ChildrensPoetry

once upon a time there was a black bee
who lived within' a raintree
and dwelled in the south seas,

this right next to a tall cashew tree
where lived a pretty butter bee
who spent time drinking honey tea,

{life was happy}

then one day from far upon the high seas
moving to a big shaded bushy tree
came along a pirate flea,

{his name was henri}

said pretty butter bee to best friend black bee
"oh no! this flea may steal all my yummy honey tea!"
said black bee,"quick! let's hide in the carob tree!"

{and off they fled quickly!}

muttered henri pirate flea,"what ever has gotton into me?"
"me thinks i need the azure abyss of deep blue sea."
so went flea to fire tree, carrying off a pretty sand flea,

{her name was rose marie}

sand flea said exitedly,"oh! no! no! not me!"
"least not without my crystal for brie!"
henri sighed a longgg sigh, "oh, gee..."

{children: 103}

to guest, you have no right nor any invitation to be rude to my dear friend phantom, he is a wonderful person, and a caring one; unlike yourself.

Fell out of my tree
Reading this poetry
Now i'm scratching bad
Hon, you are mad
Who is this woman
I take to my bosom
Ah....Its poet Ness
I surely bless
But fleas and bees
What were you thinking....please

Looking through your poems, this is the first I opened. The title made me do it :))!

I really would love to hear that you have performed this poem in public, from memory....with a cast and props! What an excellent story line...you would have them rolling in the aisles! Only a short piece to read but my guess it would take about 5-10 mins. to perform. Well done.

Twinkletoes!
