Solice

Topic: Lifepoems

I snuck up on a frog today
And watched him sit and stare
His green stood out brightly
The color of spring grass
His eyes, glass marbles
Protruding from their sockets
When one caught my reflection
He jumped for cover
Hiding under a blooming mum
Deep maroon petals shivering in the breeze
Branches reaching for the warm sun
Roots begging for water
A fly, so tiny and frail
Sat upon a petal
I swished my hand to scare it
It flew straight at my nose
Cross eyed I giggled
And watched it fly away
It's wings irridescent
It's body coal black
Landing on the window
Hardly blending in
And through the window I could see
The reflection of a robin
Red breasted beauty
Searching for some twigs
It's small perfect beak
Pulling at a dandelion
The white fuzzy seeds
Finally let go
Like a hundred dancing fairies
Dancing in the breeze
One softly tiptoes
Across the seat of a tricycle
Fire engine red
All shiny and new
Still sitting in it's parking space
In the middle of the sidewalk
Light blue chalk on the front wheel
From where it parked upon the house
The multi colored chalk home
Still resting on the cement
A set of wet footprints
Interrupt the jagged chalk lines
They lead into the wet, green grass
Where mud is pooling up
The sprinkler has been running
For hours now it seems
Within the misty water
A rainbow can be seen
Along the breeze that's blowing
Laughter can heard
Two golden blondes are playing
Their faces all aglow
The water drips from bathing suits
Dirt clinging to their legs
And there they stand pointing
To a mum with a frog in hiding...
