Objects of Vision?

Eyes are the windows to the soul they say.
Open books for all to read.
A free for all?
Then why is it,
that they cannot see deep within
to the soul that lies just beneath the surface?
Can they not look beyond these emerald spheres,
And gaze deep within the eternal black centre
to uncover the secrets they conceal?
Is it because I disguise them so very well,
Diverting the onlooker
from the truth that lies beyond them?
Is it because they do not care to unveil them,
Not wishing to get too close
to the core of my existence?
Is it fear?
Are they afraid of what they may encounter on this journey,
a venture into the eye of my storm?
Are they afraid of the consequences for doing so,
facing the aftermath of the whirlwind of emotions?
Are they afraid of what they may gaze upon,
a glimpse of themselves perhaps?
Like my mysterious rings,
noone knows what lies hidden in Pandora's box,
what might be revealed when the lids have been lifted.
a lie-a truth
a love-a hate
a fear-a fantasy
Yet although the unknown provokes fear,
uncertainty,
doubt.
Sometimes we need to risk,
to chance,
to brave
getting too close,
going too far,
venturing into the storm.
Because we may just discover we like what we see
below that surface,
under that lid...
Is it worth it?
Would you take the risk?
