My Ivory Keys II

I thought perhaps I’d write a song,
Composed of windswept skies,
Crisp spring air, silk jet black hair
And your amazon, hazel eyes
I thought perhaps I’d write a poem
When I saw your face
In the silver lining of my thoughts
Embroidered among this lace
Wouldn’t mind just being your victim,
Be happy to be your smile,
So I may stay placed on your lips
And kiss you, for a while.
To see you in the clear sunlight,
Walk beside you in the stars
Far from the other hundred eyes
That wished they'd what’s ours.
I wanted to give you something precious
I wanted to show you my dreams,
I wanted just to inspire you
With bursting tearful streams
Instead I crave this lonely sunrise
With hope this night could end
Hack my way through tangles of lies
Ivory keys my only friend.
So selfish was my hunger
For all the love of you
So hateful was my lust
It must have looked so fake, untrue
But if you had only realised
How much I cried for you
How not one night’s less lonely,
Not a single day, something new.
Just off the top of my head,
I could recite a sonnet of love
Of how you hurt me most of all
When you said I was above
Anything else…because then you built
All of my dreams, strong, vicious, tall
But years later you hurled them into nothing
Alone I watched them fall.
This is love
You said, this is love
When my colder self had died
This is love
As I walked on water at intense sunrise
This is love, this is love, you said
"Love"
But you lied.
