A Dream Of Paradise

A DREAM OF PARADISE

By Ashraf Gohar Goreja

Fragments of a tattered dream
Similar to a silver tree bough
With millions of scarlet leaves
In a fascinating golden brow.
-4-

My soul started to enjoy this vision
With insidious pleasure,and immense joy
Infrequent upsurge of glamorous spell
Of unmitigated glorious coy.
-8-

To embellish the spellbound dream
Within my own aspiration I desired,
Extended delight of this magnificent view
Perpetual that could ever be admired.
-12-

I earnestly begged our Lord
Shedding my frosted but burning tears.
Supplication of my heart was heard instantly.
My misery was over and I had no fears.
-16-

Soon after, a heavenly angel, touched my soul
With a flocculent, mighty feather
Which woke me up into another dream;
Ablaze but cool, auspicious in brilliant weather.
-20-

Majestic colors were springing out
From an intense crystal rainbow;
Huge in magnitude and ever stretching
Towards the Infinity over infinity, ado was still to grow.
-24-

A divine angel with gracious manner
Commended me to leave my cozy bed
For we were to commence a long journey
Towards high heavens on a blue, silky sled.
-28-

Which was adorned with precious gems,
Corundum rubies, diamonds and pearls.
In a blink of an eye, transparent sleigh
Ascended to heavens making a swift swirls.
-32-

The whole view was alienating the entire universe
Now I was standing in a ceremonial occasion
Spruced up in divine, silken raiment's
Like a prince of stars, submissive in suasion.
-36-

Before All Mighty God, Gracious, Powerful and High,
I was presented having my gazes down to earth
With fearful heart, my soul frightened and dread
When I heard an angel saying " O You Man, made of dirt .
-40-

You are brought up here in the seventh heaven,
For you begged our Lord of the universe, and everything within it;
The sun, the moons, the stars, and the milky ways,
Yet trillions of galaxies within galaxies that perfectly befit.
-44-

Disciplines of glorious cosmos, man yet haven't seen
Innumerable favors that God has bestowed on him,
Are just the tiny friction of His Gracious Kindness
All His treasures will be heaped up to lucky men's brim.
-48-

We are the humble slaves of All Mighty God,
Who Commended you to have a coup d' oeil.
There are Paradises within Paradise, only God Knows
In a speedy glance, Lord Willing, you will see them all.
-52-

Now I was standing, in the midst of Paradise.
Divine wearing and my ornaments, had vanished completely
I couldn't perceive myself but the garden of bliss around me
Brilliant flowers, avenues of fruits trees extending deeply.
-56-

Terraces of pomegranate trees, yielded with delicious
Aroma. Fragrant sweetness and redolence impact;
Extremely green foliage scattering all around the Paradise:
Yet another Paradise and numerous more in fact.
-60-

Goblets and beakers filled with wine, and rivers that gushed:
Raving in abundance, fresh milk and honey
Obedient, youthful attendant with perpetual freshness,
Standing in line to suffice one or many.
-64-

Delightful maidens with stunning and everlasting beauty;
Waited so long, sitting on silky, velvet couches,
To be crowned by their beloved, who were longing for their nuptial day.
They all were pure, untouched, adorned with gems and golden pouches
-68-

Great palaces, alcazars and grandeur mansions
Made with silver bricks, gold blocks and clay of lustrous pearls
Orchard glistening all around with flowing brooks
Filled with milk and honey, running freely in swirls.
-72-

In tamely manner, I questioned that which palace was mine
The angle confabed with a conducive, smiling face
"Only God Knows", was the answer. Or it was perhaps gabfest.
I stood staring, reverently with view to chase.
-76-

At no juncture I asked," When would I be entered in my palace".
"O Man! Only God Knows. But you have to demonstrate,
That you are worthy to be entered into the gardens of bliss".
Induce your deeds aright, and All Mighty God will Calculate.
-80-

Now the panorama had changed again
Instead of the Paradise, I was looking into the vast openness,
Enormously massive, without sky, sun and the moon
Just angels all-around,standing in row after row without abruptness
-84-

"Exalted Be God". Detected my soul repeatedly
And I saw myself in a black attire with my silver, long hair.
Standing among the angels, iterating hymn of praise to God.
"Exalted Be God", I perpetually, aforesaid, in the air.
-88-

" O Man, Let me take you to your world of fantasy now.
Of massive ignorance, suffering and of malicious deeds.
You ascertain only one aspect of your life.
Neglecting the favors of Lord, teaching the very precept to your creeds."
-92-

I cried immensely, hearing the blazing concealment.
For I knew the facts of life, and had envisioned the gardens of bliss
I sniffled with whine, looking down to myself and this world.
My long journey was over and ended with unpleasant hiss.
-96-

My dream was interrupted, and I found myself in the bed again.
With my amazed eyes, I jumped out of my comfort
Frightened and terrified for losing the glorious site.
Magnificently impressive, and splendid to forget.
-100-

I looked hastily through the window
It was pitch dark. disconsolate, and an autumn bound tree.
Was spreading dreadful showed on the walls of the house.
But my soul was blessed, paradisiacal, content and free.
-104-

Saira dear,

Your one word is enough to show your appreciation. You are great like my poems.
