Expectations

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The day which ended my family's relief
I left them standing in their own disbelief.
When will they learn of emotion?
It never lets life run in a straight line.
My feelings unravel in a twisting vine,
Seizing solitude in familiar devotion.

It's hard to let go of what one thinks is right,
And it's hard to perform for the sake of delight.
It's alright to show anguish or detest.
I've learned we can't always show joy and cheer,
Intense emotions dont just dissappear.
Long time lost in being depressed.

Someone set me free from the never end -
Eternal happiness, what a colorful trend.
Though I'm much more content with white roses
Arranged in a vase in a room of black and grey.
Set down the blinds to shut the sun away.
The solution's still there, right under our noses.

No one reacts the same, we all vary
In the amounts of burdens that we can carry.
And the way that we cope depends on preferences,
Those as bipolar as day or night.
Whatever the emotion, there's no wrong or right.
Soak this all in for future reference.

A great write and it is so true - there is no such thing as an absolutly perfect life where you are never unhappy. Everyone has to feel some sort of heartache or pain at some stage in their life. I can understand where you are coming from here, good work.
