Eggshells

Contributed by chuckx on Tuesday, 15th July 2003 @ 06:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

We walk on eggshells,
following the crack in the walk,
faults that lead to nowhere,
leading one on,
leaving with a flirt or promise
that someone forgot
long ago,
fragile and cold;
eggshells of a love
someone forgot to say
was over.
But the breath of life
too weak to blow out
the silhouette we cast
on a lights-out
candlelit night
of eggshells in the dark
underfoot
out of step
left us breathless.
Eggshells
after the walks
the talks
the fusion we made love
shattered
into pieces
looking
some like me
some like you.

"shattered
into pieces
looking
some like me
some like you. "

Excellent!!!

Such a lovely metaphor, powerful yet delicate like the eggshells...a thoroughly enjoyed read. Thank you...
