The knife slips deep
Cutting the pain from my soul
No longer depressed
Now I'm just oppressed
It's still there
Never goes away
Like a splinter buried
Deep under the skin
I can't deal with it all
So I put it to the side
Yesterdays busniness
Never completed
I long to end the slavery
To mend the broken spirit
To give relief to loneliness
And revive lost hope
I slip always deeper
Into a world of my own
One of broken doves
And painted black walls
The knife that cut the spirit
Cannever touch the skin
But as it gives my soul relief
It cuts through my self-control
