A Melancholy Story

Contributed by Pikul on Friday, 11th July 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Once upon a melancholy story’s start there was a town,
That weaved mysterious strands of silence in its gray and gloomy gown.
And all the people of this town had packed their things and gone away,
All but one blind little boy who knew not that he shouldn’t stay.

Storms of darkness plagued the lonely town that once was left behind,
And so the boy held close the nearest shard of rubble he could find.
Then the deepest sense of horror seeped into his icy breath,
For in his weathered mind he felt a great foreboding of his death

And all alone he sat there crying, sat there dying in the cold,
He picked a rock up from the sand and all alone his tale he told.
He carved his mind upon the falling walls in which he lay beside,
As blood and ashes filled the air, the little boy there softly died.

So many and many a year there after the people came to find the land,
That they deserted long ago, lay dead in ruins on the sand.
And in the sand there sat a story carved in stone and sprayed with pain,
So as they read it each of them felt that dark night run through their veins.

And wrapped around the story was a spirit that had long been dead,
A spirit that had wrote the truly tragic story, and it read…

“Once upon a melancholy story’s start there was a town,
That weaved mysterious strands of silence in its gray and gloomy gown…”
