make it all go away

Contributed by Cancer on Tuesday, 8th July 2003 @ 05:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

a colorless rainbow of mediocrity
passionlessly splashed across the sky
a life lived, dreamless
the pulse, the only proof of life
(i want out)
i do what's expected, nothing more
i do what i must, because i must
i do not take, i do not give
i make no ripples in this sea of sorrow
merely float aimlessly
waiting for a kind-hearted shark
(god, here my cries, take me now)
i believe in god because others do
there is no great passion in my faith
no inspiring struggle to witness
i go to church on easter and christmas
and god understands
because that's how we made him
(nowhere left to turn
nowhere left to run
left to sway in this field of souls
left to be reaped by fear)
sewed my third eye shut
i didn't want to see what it revealed
when my kids cry out for attention
i give them money and send them to the mall
(i feel so tired inside
like this life has been nothing
but a small circle marathon
it's got to end soon
it can't go on much longer
it can't...)
i wish i could kill myself
just hang myself in the basement
but, what would the neighbors say
they'd probably all think i was crazy
then there would be speculation
as to what bizarre practices i had favored
child-molester? wife-beater? horse-porn fanatic?
i hate those *****-*****
(god, what has happened to me
i used to be above such primitive feelings
as hatred, anger, and depression
now, my mind is a maelstrom of unwanted thoughts
i can't go back now)
if you're reading this
and you feel this way too
you're not alone
if you hide everday
behind a mask
you are not alone
if everyday seems
like a heavier load to bear
you are not alone
but if you feel alone
then no matter who is there for you
you will always be alone

it doesn't get better
it doesn't go away
unless you take all their pills
and let your mind be raped
many will try to talk you away
from the gun, the noose, and the blade
for, in the end, suicide's not the only answer
but, it's the one that makes it all go away

(make it all go away)

a dark portrayal of our futile existence. theres some great images like the third eye sewn shut - really effective. as always, honest and brutally realistic. i hope we find something in to bring colour to this grey life. keep writing, Kate x
