Hanging on
Merely wasting my time
On a boy
A partner
Something once mine

The past
A bygone
Ending way too soon
A distant
Joyful melody
Today a saddened tune

Understand
My heart just can't let go
Of these words and feelings
Things left unknown
Hereafters
And tomorrows
Raining on my parade
Understand
I'm holding to yesterday.

Harboring yet
A now fated past
The life
The soul
Nothing ever lasts

A lie
Poor judgement
Call it what you may
False statements
Fabrications
Its what keeps me here today

Understand
My heart just can't let go
Of these words and feelings
Things left unknown
Hereafters
And tomorrows
Raining on my parade
Understand
I'm holding to yesterday.
