MANY YEARS AGO

My mind drifts back to many years ago,
Precious memories of you that I loved so,
Together for so long we walked hand in hand,
Then to each other we gave a golden wedding band.
Many struggles we had over the years,
But we stayed together through all the tears,
Sometimes it seemed such an endless strain,
When a lot of problems came up over and over again.
Others times we fought over little silly things,
As we grew older sometimes our plans changed,
Then came the time I finally moved out,
But I was not happy with out you about.
So I returned to our home and left no more,
We have grown older and no longer keep score,
This year on our forty fifth anniversary,
I am so happy we finally agreed to agree.
My mind still drifts back to our early years,
How we were so insecure and all of our fears,
I find myself so at peace and content,
Wondering just where all those years went.
Many years ago I fell in love with you,
And I want to say now that I still do,
It just took a while to fully comprehend,
That many years ago our life was already planned.
