Come into my forest
Look around.
And sometimes you'll see beams of light
Bright-coloured leaves
And all is fresh and green
Come into my forest
Walk around.
For some paths lead to sunlit glades
With bluebells new
And trailing greenery
Come into my forest
And what then?
Will you tend my trees
Respect my ways
And breathe my scented air?
Come into my forest
Sit you down.
And let the gentle sounds
And heady scents
Course through your restful soul
*
Come into my forest
Look around.
And sometimes you'll hear noises strange
See shapes in gnarled and twisted bark
And all is sharp and dark
Come into my forest
Walk around.
For some paths lead to hollows deep
And lank, dank corners
Where nothing lovely thrives
Come into my forest
And what then?
Will you break my branches
Curse my rich, damp earth
And trample my flowered floor?
Come into my forest
Be ensnared.
In lonely ways long overgrown
And fresh thorn thickets
Newly dangerous
Come into my forest
Do you dare?
