They were ruled by a foreign country
By arrogant people far away
They hated the sight of their uniforms
And the price they had to pay
They were economic tyrants
There to exploit their land
To take their raw materials
“Submit to our will” their demand
But in the peoples’ hearts and minds
They saw them as oppressors
They struggled to loose their grip
To punish these aggressors
And so they began the struggle
The fight to the bitter end
To rid themselves of the tyrants
Their country to defend
Using any means that came to hand
They were finally able to say
The ugly foreigners had truly gone
On Iraqi Independence Day
O/
“All along the road, behind stone walls, hillocks, and houses militiamen from village and farm made targets of the bright red coats of the British soldiers.”
