by the highway

Contributed by joydeep_nath on Saturday, 5th July 2003 @ 12:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

On the edge where the tar sank into the earth,
She stood swaying in air,
Guess waiting to reach somewhere.

No lover would pick her up,
in the name of his love.
No scholar would take her up,
in the name of his task.

For to match a rose's smell,
she had none.
For to match an orchid's ncharm ,
she had none.
For she was plain dainty,
with tiny white petals round a central brown.

yet,I looked longer.
yet,I felt compelled.
Yet,She cast astrange spell.
yet,She held a secret untold,
yet,She withheld some cure unknown.
Yet,inches above the tar,she swayed ,
Uncared,unloved and wild.

And,yet her story had to end.
Yet,she had to crush under a van.

And yet,
Her purpose served?

The poem was interesting. I like the atmosphere. It makes me feel like I'm there. I like that kind of poetry. Great poem!

that this poem was thoroughly enjoyed
the subtle depth of its meaning, explored.

Dear Joy Deep,
This was a marvelous poem
My thoughts never did roam.
You had me glued to your image,
like reading a page!

The best part I felt,
was the last line.
She had served her purpose.
While you gazed upon her all that time!

Oh, This was a lovely poem.
I love flowers along the road!
Thanking for sharing this me
I'll always remember your imagey

Loving Critters.
ConSue

Another compelling, involving read. I was struck by the intricate way you described the flower, and asked a pertinent, philosophical question.
Another excellent title.

lovely read, if beauty's task is to be observed
is it enough to be observed by only one? Or can u share the beauty on?
