The contrast between
high thinking and low living
as measurred in cigarette butts
while time is running in
and running out
in & out.
In dialectical opposition
things are evolving
after all he's still breathing
and smoking and kicking
the king of the time being
will soon be choking!.
As we sit and stare
at time running out
one more cigarette
is what this is all about.
We do not have to
rave and shout
but on this issue
we have no doubt
that if he quits
he is in
or else
he is out!.

Your poem on the head does hit or doesn't
or does or doesn't
------------------------------------------------------
Past New Year's Eve I stopped the butts
It had nothing to do with resolution,
I was on a ship and if I smoked
There'd 'ave been a revolution.
It's six month by tomorrow's date
The fifth of the month of July
I don't feel any differently so I say,
"Screw them with their better than I"

I am a non smoker, but am married to a chimney. I find that it irks me how here where I live smokers built a stadium but are not allowed to smoke anywhere but a small area. I say if the nonsmokers rule tax them.
