Superficial

Contributed by InteruptedFate on Thursday, 3rd July 2003 @ 04:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

She hides her past,
Behind a mask.
She crys down deep inside,
Her confusion and her anger,
Make her want to hide.

She looks into her mirror,
And sees someone she's not.
She holds her head,
And wipes her tears,
She leaves her home, distraught.

She goes into the bathroom,
And throws up in a stall.
She goes up to the mirror,
To check her pretty face.
But instead she sees a superficial girl, bony, thin, and tall.

Hoping life will sometime end,
As she reaches for her purse.
Another individual makes eye to eye contact.
She looks away with sudden pain,
And feels her life's a curse.

Diseases, diseases, diseases,
Cover her body and her mind.
What will become of this sad tale of confusion?
A girl so young at heart,
With happiness hard to find.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
