Drapes of love lining windows of memories' shadows, concealing the past, apprehending the future; Carpe Diem a wiser man than I once said, and in MY wisdom I've come to believe that in some unconcious, indirect fashion these words say love will find a way; Sieze the Day! Truth be told, no fear shall overcome, we've forgiven, what's said is said, what's done is done. Promises past-broken we can both redeem. Love, Honor, and Cherish I was told long ago; through time I've come to realize these are more than just letters to syllables and syllables to words. These are the fabric of life and happiness and for US I swear to do so as I swear upon the gift of my heart, for you.
Mountains of hope glaciered from the harsh cold you radiated in the past are beginning to melt now, transform back to their once-known selves; a ray of sun with your soft kisses, a blanket of warmth when you whisper 'I Love You'. I give you this landscape now; these hilltops and plateaus, these brushy mountainsides, this enchanted forest filled with creatures of your dreams, your playground, your solace, all that you may need are here for the taking and in actuality are quite eager for your presence. Is this your peace? Your solitude? For if you fear heights or the dark, starry nights, just take my hand. I will keep you from harm and I swear to do so as I swear upon the gift of my heart, for you.
Self-built walls of concrete and barbed wire begin to crumble around your feet now as you break free from 'life'. Rebuilding ties long since broken and I drift into your heart as you do with mine. Stumbling through rubble of your falling walls I'm ever so careful not to be hurt or get cut, these barbs are sharp with pain you've yet come to terms with; and so I make my way around, through, over, if I may enter, and I hope to surface where I'd often like to be, just for a moment the glow in your eye mirroring what you see when unconciously you glance to the sky. I tread around your fallen walls and realize something so very sweet, that this is FOR, not because of me. So only now do I realize I must collapse my walls too, and I swear to do so as I swear upon the gift of my heart, for you.
I dream of you sometimes but you know how it seems, it's never as if your in a dream. In my mind I know it's more than a sleeping sub-concious, a deep rooted reality I'm sure it's quite obvious that this is more than a dream: it's been a half century, days upon weeks to months and then years have passed by and all with you my dear, sending our babys' babies off to some overpriced school as we fill our space next to each other on our worn loveseat, wrinkled hand in hand, looking at walls with years of portraits of a familys' love, pictures of now, pictures of then, remembering the look in your eye when you said 'I Will', and how I told you I'd make you happy when you swore to love me forever as you swore upon the gift of your heart, for me.......
