U.S. WEAPON OF MASS DECEPTION

Contributed by Steeleyes on Friday, 27th June 2003 @ 07:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

We seek them here
We seek them there
We seek them everywhere
Those WMDs just don’t play fair

We need them now to justify a war
Where thousands of people died
But we can’t find the things!
People know now that we lied!

It wasn't the reason for the war
But we must keep up a pretence
You see we need your votes
Little sheep do see sense!

Why don’t you just set us free
To do whatever we want?
Does it really matter so very much
As long as OTHERS feel the brunt?

Let’s face it you're selfish just like us
So why not quit making a fuss?
As long as we stay safe and others die
Why should you care if we lie?

OKAY! THERE WERE NO WMDs!
Do we have to say it on our knees?
We needed an excuse to go to war
And this was what the lie was for

Don’t blame us now for this mess
It's known that we did it
But we are politicians
So 'expertly' we hid it

Iraq is a mess, thousands have died
But at least our EGOS are satisfied
And you know that feels SO good
We’d do it AGAIN tomorrow if we could

So stick to your knitting
And leave us to fight
Who do you think you are?
You think you have some right

To act all precious and even-handed?
We only do what is demanded
We decide what goes around here
So stay a sheep, there's a dear!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
