a fathers lessons on love

It’s so scary ‘cos -
Mummy loves Daddy
And Daddy loves Mummy:
Every time he
hits her,
breaks her,
bruises her,
he’s not sorry…
He says it’s just
his way of showing
that he cares.

And his kids are watching,
learning
from this wisdom he shares:
On how to show love,
How to be men

Sometimes they turn away
So he just shows them again…

And again
Until he’s sure that they
understand
Now they think:
To hit a women’s
How to prove you’re a man

And so it continues
And so it goes on
Until his children’s innocence
Is all but gone…

Now these little boys
Are both grown men
Neither of them scared
To teach
these lessons
Again

But what happens when:
These little boys,
both have baby girls…
Pretty little things
With blue eyes
And tight blonde curls

They:
Treat them the same
as they treat their wives
and the teachers ask questions
when they go to school
with black eyes

But neither of these little girls
understand that this is
wrong
Daddy’s only going by the lessons
That he was
taught from

Still:
Each time that he
hits them,
they whisper “daddy no”
and never does he hear them
praying he will go

So they make a promise:
To each other,
their mothers,
and God above
That they will never teach his
lessons
Or show
love
The way he does

And they don’t mean to break their promise
But they just want him
Dead…

And they smile and say
I love you
As they place a gun to
Daddys
head…

It is so sad that this vicious circle repeats itself until someone finds the strength to break it. A very powerful message here.
