at the age of five
not even ten
my world crashed
To start over again
my mother left
my daddy cried
and kept us four
right by his side
just four guys
and one girl
against the odds
in this lonely world
from house to house
we moved on
I must adapt
now my mother is gone
A shine of light
came my way
when my dad met a girl
this one day
life was grand
at this time
but it got sour
like a lime
two weeks before christmas day
she threw us out
with nowhere to stay
she then left
my daddy cried
and kept us there
right by his side
At this time
I was twelve
sad to be living
such a hell
Been living here
since second grade
made all these friends
I had to stay
We found a house
not far away
For in this school
I wanted to stay
my dad have left
down his gaurd
for he was still hurt
and it was hard
Life continued
as it was
I was just happy
for all of us
to be living together
in this family
not having a mother
didn't really matter to me
lost that part
as long back
as I could see
My dad had trouble
keeping up with bills
we had to move
it made me ill
For I was sick
of making friends
and having to start
all over again
On halloween day
of 98
We made our final move
to this place
A five bedroom home
a room for all
it wasnt to big
and wasnt to small
As the summer
rolled around
My dad found a woman
in this town
all i thought
in my head
you got to be kidding
I wish i were dead
sooner then you know it
she moves in
with a cat and a dog
and two bratty kids
now i must share
all my space
i wish i now had
my own place
For I was older
wiser too
I knew what would happen
but what could i do
as long as my dad was happy
who would have knew?
she suffered the fate
as the other two
In February 2003
She was the third woman
to walk out on me
It wasn't my dad
who was at fault
It was us kids
That she always fought
if only these woman
knew what they were missin
I know my father
He does not ly
he fights for his living
and wouldnt hurt a fly
he could have gave up
and put us out for adoption
but he rather of chose
the other option
And till this day
I live with my father
Mother calls sometimes
But doesnt really bother
but out of this
it made me stronger
I live in this same town
and intend to live here longer
And I am Happy
without a mother
it hurt before
but now it don't bother
I'm soon to gradute
In a year
and im pretty glad
that I ever moved here
And i thank
my lucky stars
for ever letting my family
get this far
all because
my dad chose
the other option
to live together
and not give us up for adoption

This has got to be hurtful for you. I see a strength in your words. Your blessed to have all of this courage within you. I must say by what Iv read you have your fathers grit and determination in you. Your dad is someone very special to take care of you as he has alone. Alot of men would have ran the other way. You are blessed with many things sweety many things. Graduate and have a happy life as you deserve!

Awesome write. It takes a lot for a woman to be a single parent but even more so for a man. I can tell your dad was a good man most men leave there kids to a much worst fate. My dad has come and gone and my first husband left me when I was five months pregnant with my first son. So abandonment I know. I'm just glad you had a family there for. I applaud you in you strife in life. Most do it alone and never make it I know this because many nights I awoke in a hospital bed, in the type of hell we grew up in only the strong survive. Again I applaud. For your poem and your life.
Always
