This Is Hull

Contributed by adsalamon on Friday, 20th June 2003 @ 06:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Walking through the streets
So diseased and so much hatred
Once was gold now is lead
Once was soft now is dead
Once was human now is a wreck
Junkies lie, so high yet so low
Beggars stare through squinted eyes
“Spare 20p” “lends us some change”
Filthy paws grabbling at the dirt
The scent in the air – pollution at its best
Fish, Sewage, the people too
Town centre blues, traffic hell
Boy racers encircle like guards
Tracksuit warriors on parade
Steal what they need
What they don’t too
Oh what a wonderful place to be
Only amusement, big issue count
Lines of pound shops litter the streets
Scum file in like its life or death
This is Hull, take it or leave it
I can’t wait till I leave it

I live in Devon and this reminds me of where I live as well. I know how you feel but where will you go when you leave Hull?
