Bivouac
Drizzle?… Drivel! Deluge…
The Ebenezer encampment imparts eave alms,
But scarcely, the scrooge.
Heretidols, hirsute and hairless, sarcastically sing number 14, Psalms.
Caesura, none, from the gushing from the gloaming…
The parade un-rained upon,
Joshing pugilism, shifting feet loaming
Shifting feet, ribbing slugfest rages on.
Caesura, none, from the beating from the twilight bulb;
The waxing crescent illuminates
Peculiarly, illuming the camp with a dry, bright scald.
Silhouettes dance, the post-lax peasants, the moon’s mirth rejuvenates.
Spirits imbibe spirits,
Dash amuck;
Caroling in the cats-and-dogs, condensed pet sky spigots
Dash the muck
On to the carolers, among the cats-and-dogs.
Then…a man, of branches and birch
And burnished logs,
Trudges toward the summit…and, the cats-and-dogs cease to, the loam, besmirch.
Heard, from the pinnacle, great distances over,
Panegyrical calls saxophoned jazzily;
For the champion, the light, the quator clover
Had arrived. My o’, my, what a razz, really.
