Unspoken Words

Grief

I remember
Golf in the basement
And MomMom's famous
Ice-box salad
I drive past the house
That holds all the memories
But someone else has taken your place there
It doesn't seem right
All I see when I look at that house
Is Grandpop and grand-daughter
Hand in hand
Picking pine cones off the ground
But now I stand here
Upon your grave
I hope you can hear
All the things I never said
And you can forgive
All the times I wasn't there
I leave the guilt
Of things I can not change
With the picture of us
The one with me in your lap
Do you remember?
I hope you can hear me Grandpop
I just want you to know
I thought you hung the moon
