Sukey (One These Days)

Contributed by butterat_zool on Wednesday, 18th June 2003 @ 01:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, gon' get way up north.
One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, get away from it all.

Left my soul in ol' Mississippi.
Left my soul in the bottom the well.
Left my soul pick apples and cherries.
Left my soul coming home from the mill.

One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, gon' get way up north.
One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, get away from it all.

All packed up, got food for my travel.
All packed up, it's a full moon tonight.
All packed up, hope my shoes hold together.
All packed up, now it's time for my flight.

One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, gon' get way up north.
One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, get away from it all.

Here I am, after seven years walkin'.
Here I am, free as I'll ever be.
Here I am, sold my family, was worth it.
Here I am, now I'll die peacefully.

One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, gon' get way up north.
One these days, gon' getaway, darlin'.
One these days, get away from it all.

One these days done come an' I'm happy.
One these days done set my mind free.
One these days left the old man inside me.
One these days feel like I'm twenty-three.

Butterat_Zool, you really are a genius!
You can write happy poetry and lyrics just as well as your dark verse. I've ran through many of them, and gave them 5 out of 5....face it, boss, you rule MAN!

Whoever wrote this, thanks a lot. Stuff like that is what keeps me writing, and it really means a lot to a wannabe musician like myself. I'd PM you to thank you personally, but your anonymity prevents that. Maybe one day you'll even get to hear my bad southern accent singing out the word to this song or others on an album! Who knows? Anyways, there's no telling how wonderful them two sentences make me feel. Thanks again, and i wish you a pleasant day and a good rest of your life. Butterat Zool.
