The faces before me blur.
My bow touches the string
Taut and ready.
I close my eyes
And take a breath.
The song in my head
Plays for me alone,
Preparing me.
One more breath
My fingers take their place
Poised and ready on the string.
Again, I breathe
I pull my bow across the string,
Bringing forth a sweet note.
One note leading to the other.
A melody forms.
Fingers and arm work together,
Perfect rhythm and harmony.
I surrender myself to the hypnotic music
Formed by the union of
Instrument
Bow
Body
Soul
I sway,
Entranced.
The song intensifies.
My heart races.
The music draws me further into its embrace.
An expression of the soul
No human words can describe.
My life slows to a single moment.
My entire existence this one song.
One piece becomes my reality
Portraying deepest emotions
Together
In a mosaic
That captivates the deepest part of my heart.
The song slows,
Becomes peaceful,
Serene.
My heart slows.
I relax as the music draws to an end.
My whole Self is soothed.
My bow pulls the string
In its last note.
The song fades.
Absolute calm embraces me.
The note disappears into silence.
My bow rises.
I hold it poised above the string for a moment.
I open my eyes.
Rapid and thunderous applause washes over me
In sharp contrast to the beauty of the Music.
A new emotion engulfs me.
I smile at the faces
Becoming clear in front of me.
I take a bow
Walk of the stage
My head held high,
Mouth smiling
To face the world anew
And surrender myself always
To the Embrace of the Music.

You portray the magic of the violin as beautifully as it sounds in the hands of a master.
Then again in less classical vein, in the hands of an Irish or Scottish player.
It is the most wonderfull and versitile of
instruments.
Thank you for taking us behined the bow.

Music is just like poetry. It draws you in and captures you until the last note or word is played. Great poem. Kimmie_mac |
