A SIngle Rose

Contributed by PsychoticDreamz on Tuesday, 17th June 2003 @ 08:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Walking through the graveyard
Finding some old friends
Most were killed by accidents
Some made their own lives end,

As the storm begins to build
I wander among the dead
Looking at the gravestones
Wondering what lies ahead,

It starts to rain
Then pours down
The lightening flashed
My smile turns to a frown,

I kneal next to the deserted stone
Brushing back twigs and tall grass
I wait for more lightening
to read the name atlast,

While feeling sorry for the baren stone
The sky fills with light
With no shock of the true name
I rest by the stone for the night,

I place a single rose on the grave
Revisiting one's death
They've gotten what they'd wanted
Not life - Eternal rest,

Ive gotten what I knew was true
No one cared at any time
Holding on to my own single rose
Knowing that the grave is mine.

This is beautiful poem, had so much sorrow pain weaved into the words, it is very well done.
I liked this poem, reminds me of my life, ruled by darkness, swallowed by light.
Keep up the poetry, you are obvisually good at it.

oh this is beautiful and sad at the same time. I have spent many hours placing flowers in the cemetary. To many of my friends resting there. This brought back memories.

the poem's construction is good...
Do not use the grave before your time

I understand where you are going with this write. i enjoyed it. It was a very good write filled with much pain and sorrow. I have contemplated puting myself in an early grave but I can't stand to be alone. I have thought about it the way you describe it in your poem. It was very touching. Great write. ~Day~
