Jim & Old Joe

Contributed by Jodie on Wednesday, 7th August 2002 @ 01:47:01 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I imagined a conversation between Jim and Old Joe.
I imagined them speaking in voices soft and low.
I heard Joe say. "Tell jodie, My little girl.
That my spirit is with her in this world.
Tell her I think of her every day.
Remind her to still do things the Indian way.
Tell her I hear my Grandson tell me good night.
Whispering to the stars at twilight.
Tell her I wish I taught him to ride.
Tell her I know she somtimes cried.
And I'm sorry I'm not there to tell them both how much I care.
Tell her the Angels up here have seen me shed a lonely tear.
Jim, please make her understand
That my plans for her were so grand
I was called away before I was through
God had plans I couldn't undo.
Tell her I named a star for her & the boy.
Tell them they are my pride and joy.
I imagined Jim told him, "You know I will Joe"
and I'll stick around to see how things go.

Wow, again a very inspiring piece. Old Joe is with his fathers, hunting that big buffalo in the sky, and he is happy. Don't displace the fact that the four year old acts like he knows him, cause he just might. Children seem to be able to "break through" the other side alot more then adults can, because their sweet little minds don't tell them that it can't happen. They just believe, bless their little hearts. Peace and love to you and yours. You are in my heart. - Jason

At times I think maybe my son realy knows his grandfather. He talks to him all the time while he his playing, and is always egar to show me new things he says his Ol' Grandpa has tought him. Every night before bed he blows hugs & kisses to the stars and says good night to his grandpa. He has done this since he was about a year & half old. Nothing would make me happier than to know my son has had a chance to know my Father. He was a wonderful man and I miss him dearly.
thank you jason for taking the time to read the poem. Jodie Lynn
