Will you be my knight in shining armor?

Contributed by MX on Sunday, 15th June 2003 @ 02:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I am so afraid of things I cannot be,
When all I can be isn’t all they say I should be.

If a person were so cruel as to poke and pry,
Would you be there to ward them off when I start to cry?

Please protect me,
I’m only a fragile little girl you see.

And if this person was so brave as to take away my soul,
Would you be there to fill that gaping hole?

What if I cannot be the pretty girl in your dreams,
Would you still love me as hopeless as I seem?

Please protect me,
I’m only a fragile little girl you see.

If someone was so bold as to tell me that I deserve to die,
Would you be there for me and tell me it was nothing but a lie?

When I can’t stop from inflicting pain upon myself,
Will you be there to get me through this personal hell?

Please protect me,
I’m only a fragile little girl you see.

When I cry and scream and yell,
Please don’t be like them and insist that I’m not well.

I need someone on my side when the hoards won’t go away,
I need you to promise me that you will always stay.

Please protect me,
I’m only a fragile little girl you see.

When I can’t stand another word they say,
Will you be the one who comes to sweep me away?

When I have those horrid dreams and wake up in the night,
Will you be the one to wipe my tears and hold me oh so tight?

Please protect me,
I’m only a fragile little girl you see.

Even though I am so small and fragile now,
I will become strong with your willingness to teach me how.

If you stay by my side through all these years to come,
You will see the beautiful woman that I was destine to become.
