Answered Prayer

Contributed by Elf on Saturday, 14th June 2003 @ 11:25:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I fall upon my knees to pray,
at the close of a summer day.
As I sit I ask God why the pain,
for today the one I love went away.
Then there is a sudden light,
I can't see. Its to bright.
I hear a voice come from above,
He says "He's not the one you truly love."
I hesitate, then ask Him to tell who.
He says to me "That, I'll not do"
The light goes away, and I say "Amen"
I get up, then think again.
I wonder who this love could be.
For I thought it was the last that loved me.
Then I remembered what God spoke
That it was I that loved, That I would know.
I open the door to my room,
and there behold, is my answer true.
My friend Zach, with roses in hand
I thought to myself, "this has GOT to be planned"
He told me he heard about my trouble with Doug
and he wanted to let me know that it was I that he loved.
As we shared a quiet embrace,
I silently thank God for his grace.
For if it weren’t for God, we wouldn’t’ be here.
And if his son hadn’t died, we'd all have hell to fear.
So thank God for all you've got
For without him you've got naught.
