JUST THINK ABOUT IT

Contributed by Steeleyes on Thursday, 12th June 2003 @ 01:25:00 AM in AEST
Topic: political

You’re in a country with little power
Survival comes to you hour by hour
Your country is run by a rich elite
You keep running to stay on your feet

Working like a slave day and night
You feed your family but always fight
Your life expectancy is not very long
Your pleasures few, a drink and a song

Then one day a chance to be free
To live your life with some dignity
Better schooling for your kids and better health care
An army and police who’re not there to scare

You grasp at this chance with both hands
At last a group that understands
And they are poor just like you
And it’s obvious what you must do

Take the power wherever you can
Organise yourselves and make a plan
With like-minded souls who want the best
To create a government that stands the test

Not simply to preserve a powerful elite
Not to look down noses at the poor at their feet
Who wont simply pocket the nation’s wealth
At the expense of the people and their health

But there’s a problem that is well known
One side gets less when the other has grown
If the poor get more then there’s less for the rich
So brand them Socialist and here’s the hitch

A powerful observer comes on the scene
That has an agenda corrupt and obscene
To foster stability for it’s own greedy sake
And ensure the elites don’t lose any stake

People power is trouble to the USA
They keep in power those who pay
And using their power they will undermine
Any local attempt to win hearts and minds

Perhaps back home they know nothing of this
But in our country hatred is growing like a cyst
For this elitist observer who supports the crime
Of rich suppressors treating the people like swine

It’s no secret at all that the CIA is there
And the knowledge of covert activities where
It’s meant to be hidden and no one know
Lots of PR circus and propaganda show

But in the end the result is so clear
Suppress the people by instilling fear
And if they ever come to succeed
Then destroy their hopes by a covert feed

To terrorist groups that disrupt their lives
Spread lies and discord, destroy and despise
Do anything to smash those noble dreams
Of the little man and his fragile schemes

For your interests are served by the ruling elite
Any people power you fight to defeat
But much much later your people gasp to find
That the US is hated—how come they’re so blind?

Connect the dots and it’s there to see
Your land has caused so much misery
While the PR told you it was all for the good
Your conscience will tell you what your government should

That all the talk of spreading democracy
Was so much hogwash and hypocrisy
That the aim in the end was to keep the status quo
To hold down the people who’re seen as the foe

To keep those riches flowing in a steady stream
The same old materialist American dream
To prop up dictators as long as they fed
Your business interest and if not, they’re dead

A curse on the world your nation has been
In dozens of countries its influence seen
Covert and overt with a heavy hand
Suppressing the people to maintain demand

To support the interests of the USA
You have made the world pay and pay
And never be surprised that the memory lingers
As we chop off your hands and corrupting fingers

How much evil in the world you have sown
How much your hypocritical power has grown
How much grief and pain this policy sent us
How much misery and bullets rent us

Do you really believe you can be forgiven
You arrogantly say your country is heaven
But we see the callous acts you commit
Undermining freedom and supporting *****

Never ever wonder so very wide-eyed
Why the world doesn’t love you or stand by your side
Your leaders are liars and have sold you a story
That their actions were righteous, so pure and holy

All they did they did in the name of their power
They do this each second, each minute and hour
At last they will turn their attention to you
If you try for true freedom you'll see what they do

They’ll use all the power of their cynical state
And take your rights and treat them with hate
These ugly elites are fascists of like mind
They preserve their power to enslave Mankind

Be aware of what the US does to the world
Each time you see that starry flag unfurled
And know we see you as the true terror here
You killed all our dreams - now it's YOUR turn to fear
