The Phantom Lady

Contributed by norm on Wednesday, 11th June 2003 @ 03:25:00 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

The phantom lady came at one
Her entrance did amaze,
She smiled, looking white and drawn,
Then vanished in the haze.

The phantom lady came at two
This time she floated in,
She smiled as she beat her drum
She vanished in the din.

The phantom lady came at three
but not a sound I heard,
I knew her there, her scent aware
She vanished like a bird.

She did not come at four or five
my disappointment showed,
I prayed she'd show at six or eight
Her beauty ala mode.

But ne'er again did I espy
This phantom lady mine,
I know not if I ever saw
This gorgeous spiritine.

Norm your poems are the most enjoyable I've read on YPDC. Don't you get stuck for ideas sometime?

I always want to join in.........

I have a phantom Teddy Bear
he comes to me from "you know where"
across the distant "over there"
where bears are very very rare.

The biggest bear you ever saw
spreads fifteen feet from claw to claw
I'd like to say what he comes for
but I can't think of any more

Wow, great poem. It flows nicely and it has a mysterious, mystical essence. Love it!
