I'm Glad I Couldn't Sleep...

Contributed by LovingWhispers on Friday, 6th June 2003 @ 10:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

When the light had faded, and midnight came to call
I arose from satin sheets, and headed down the hall
Too hot to close my eyes,my body was all wet
And so I took a shower,as cold as it could get
I grabbed an ice cold tea and a great big juicy peach
And I headed to the puter,'cause I just couldn't sleep
I stood first before the window, hoping for a breeze
And there in my warm nakedness,I hoped noone would see
The day had been a long one, from sunup to sundown
I looked about my loungeroom,no Valentine's was found
I sighed and shook it off,for what was there to do
Only could I dream ,of what so many others knew
Smiling at my cat as she pawed at dripping tears
Storm,my beautiful friend, you are so very dear
I decided to log on and write a poem or three
But whatever I tried to say, didn't sound so right to me
I had a nice idea,to send my friends some laughs
So I started checking sites, but the jokes were pretty daft
Then I thought to just email, say hi to those I know
But I was just so very sad and worried it would show
I noticed that my inbox was getting close to critical
And when I saw the junk mail,I sighed"Oh this is typical"
Scrolling down I checked the boxes,of all I wanted to delete
"Ads for bigger boobs,You have won,and heres someone you should meet "
Then to my amazement,I couldn't really believe
That there in my ol' inbox was a Valentines card for me
I can't explain the feeling, for being so thought of
And it didn't matter if it wasn't sent with doting love
Yes I knew the sender, nobody else it could have been
Always thinking of my heart,he means so much to me
With a tender smile,I clicked on the V-Card link
And as I thought about him,I felt my old heart sink
The card was filled with friendly love,my tears they fell again
As I sat there staring at the card,my card there on the screen
Thankyou very much for the kindness you have shared
Now forever I will feel I'm loved, because I know you care

*WOW!!! What a wonderful man.He took my very sad valentines and gave it a huge smile*
