As I grimly approach the hanging noose,
Pleading with the hangman not to set it so loose,
So that I would vividly hear the resulting crack,
Of my neck, or see, with one eye, my body jack,
Back up towards the wooden frame above,
I cry out with rupturing torture, for God’s love!
Pity if I should be breathing following my descent,
For he shall certainly arm himself with crescent,
Axe of shining sorrow or perhaps polished pain,
Pray for me if they throw me in the fires of disdain,
That God may take me as I am, burning upon the stake,
Wash me clean of my sins, forgive my every mistake,
Force open my uncontrollably tearing eyes, to let,
Me see, the hidden joy I found in a life with no regret.

Powerfully written full of pain and pleading
'Axe of shining sorrow or perhaps polished pain,'
Loved that line so descriptive and well-thought out. keep on writing.
