Texture of silk
It reminds me
(Of) Fingerprints....
If the future is held in grooves and whorls
And history remembered by concentric rings
What does a petal tell of love and woe
But the hopes of a lover
A stalk that holds a stinging defence
Is not so different from the love we hate
To grasp it firmly is to bleed
Like the heart of a lover
Is not the crimson that we see
Paid for thrice and thrice over
A boatman before his call
Ohhh copper-eyed lover
For at the end of day
When leaves run a'gold
What can we keep
But each our lost lover

great write - i did something similar but not as well. i like the metaphors and the somewhat elevated style. its odd, i never can tell a poet from their outer shell. you've surprised me. keep them coming, Kate x |

At last !!!!!!!I'm right there with this one. (was beginning to feel I lived on a different planet)
working my way up your list.
Loved that line
"A stalk that holds a stinging defence" in fact the whole verse is a treasure of emotion |
