Lost Within

Lost Within

When I look into the mirror,
I don't know who I see.
I don't recognize the person staring back at me.
I'm a stranger in my own land.
A prisoner of my own war.
It's like a cancer destroying my soul
and I can't find the cure.
No hope left.
I can't run the race.
My minds on overload.
Haunted by my memories
that I'm trying to erase.
Time's going by to fast,
I don't think I can last.
Haunted by my past.
My walls are tumbling down.
Words unspoken,
I can hear so clear.
Profound silence,
ringing in my ears.
Trying so hard.
Trying to win.
Doing everything wrong.
I'm lost within.
I wish pain and suffering were no more.
I wish I could figure out what I'm fighting this war for.
This war within my heart,
within my soul,
within my mind.
Wishing I could leave all of my past behind.
I don't want to be by myself.
I feel like I've got no one else.
Maybe I do.
Maybe I don't.
I guess I'll never truly know.
Trying so hard to hold on.
I'm going to try,
until everything is gone.
I don't know how to begin.
I don't know where to end.
I don't know if I can last much longer
being lost within.

This is a great poem. I to have alot of past issues to deal with. Its a hard long road. Keep writing it helps and know in your heart your future will be bright. As time moves on so does the hurt from the past little by little.

beautifuly written. Your true desires of pain and wealth are always within. I liked this write, for many of us can really indentify with it and lived it. Wealth in my book means your own personal happiness. I wish you well in finding what it is you so wish to obtain in your own life. I've been there, and slowly have crawled out. Many wonderful folks helped me of course, as well as on- line here too.
keep your writes going, the feelings you put down will reflect in your time, to see much later, how much it meant and helped you along the way too.
AMber Rose :)
