We Are All Posers

Contributed by Vampy on Tuesday, 6th August 2002 @ 01:40:51 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Individuality
Nonconformity

Such a big deal
to be different.

We all want to be,
some try so hard-
why?

A fear, fear of
becoming a sheep,
a follower,
a poser!

Oh no!
A poser!
A poser!

So absurd to call anyone
a poser or a sheep-
we are all posers.

None of us are
anything new,
anything original.

We fear conformity,
seek a unique attitude-
it's so worthless.

Accept it-
you are not unique,
you are not some
insanely different individual.

Everything we do
is a replica
of something someone else
has done in the past.

So while you don your
black clothes
or thrift store shirts
or Abercrombie,
don't act like you're
a god and something
so different-
don't point out the "posers"
or the wannabes.

REALIZE

We are all posers,
we are all the same,
we are all HUMAN.

Just be yourself,
whatever that may be,
and don't worry about
what others may see.

It is so great to see that someone else out there realizes that you can't be different no matter how hard you try.

Although I can't agree with much of this I liked very much the way the verse flowed and it is a very good poem poetry wise.My concept however is that we are all different and the day I find another the same as myself will be the day I breath a sigh of relief. Also I am no poser and don't know anyone who is although I do know several sheep.I do not bbbaaaa

I look forward to reading more of your work.
Sincerely
Kay p M-devenish

How many times has an aquaintance stopped you in the middle of a mall and said, "look at that poser," then you look your friend over and realize they are just the same. It's true that we all conform to somethings, but I must agree with the second comment here, that although a group might dress the same and listen to the same music, there are many different individuals within that group. So I dedicate this poem to all those who are ignorant enough to call others posers, for they are what they see. Another life sized dose of reality. Great write tho, Vampy... Your intentions on this one are true.

I enjoyed reading this. I agree with everything you said. This is an issue that I have been struggling with, you showed me the light. Thank you!
