Enduring The Storm

Enduring the Storm

I knew the storm was coming
I could almost smell the rain
I tried to comfort mommy
She was about to cry again
I knew the storms scared her
As much as they did me
She was trying not to cry
I was trying to remember to breath
When daddy walked in the door
The winds started to wail
My mommy trembled even more
And then came the hail
My daddy raised his hand
Then the storm truly began
The thunder rumbled with such force
It shook my mommy and tossed her to the floor
Then the lightning struck
And left a mark on mommy’s cheek.
Fear had griped my throat
And by then I couldn’t even speak
As I tried so hard to scream
Because then the storm came after me
And then the storm came after me.

I liked this, but so sad I like u used the storm as a reference to an abusive person. Once again a great poem left me stunned.
