forbidden lies

I watched as the tears welt in her eyes
The darkness as night passed through
In memory of all the times we shared
All my mind could think of was you
If we were meant to be, we would
We'd share our lives and dreams
Yet a lie would need to be kept in order
For life stays still... as it seems
You tell me you're in love with me
And that she's just there as a friend
Yet at the end of the day you go back to her
Leaving me to fix broken ends
I saw her crying yesterday
And as she looked me in the eye
I saw the face of despair and hurt
All because you couldn't lie
I'll love you forever and a day
From now until the end
Even if the world comes between you and i
I know a broken heart can mend.

Such a sad and yet beautiful poem. It can be so painful sometimes, can't it?
