Stand up, be proud!
Come shout it out loud!
Be a righteous hurricane
To be truly free
Proud to be
A true Anti-American
A greedy nation quite insane
Needs new victims for its gain
It'll be as they never began
Just look, you'll see!
Your mind has the key
You're a true Anti-American
A competitive race
With an arrogant face
That thinks it rules us all
Demanding power
Each goddamn hour
With intelligence puny and small
Just why is America hated?
It reeks of sleaze and greed
And how come America is hated?
On fear and violence it feeds
Be proud to be Anti-American
Against these freaks insane
Be proud to be Anti-American
Let the sleazeballs rant in vain
Never was America so despised
And seen as it truly is
Behind its myths and self-serving lies
This slaughtering superpower
In sanctimonious disguise
An arrogant bully
That threatens and slays
While it preaches of God
In a righteous daze
With a heart of violence
They patronize all
These serial killer kings
Who talk of their soul
With cultural sleaze and Enron crime
They tell the world to replicate
The 'glory' of their braindead ways
Of a society built on hate
So, stand up, be proud!
Come shout it out loud!
Be a righteous hurricane
"To be truly free!
Proud to be
A true Anti-American"

You are a very good poet. However it would be nice to see something written by you that isnt trashing Americans and the USA. Im sorry that you are feeling so hateful. For as an American I am a good person and Im not slime or full of greed, thank you very much.

Michelle, I am only talking of the majority of Americans who supported this evil creature Bush and allowed the slaughter of thousands.
On both sides of the atlantic we have been duped (the very word used by ex-minister Clare Short here) by our governments and by those who had made up their mind that a war was the best policy and went ahead to convince us of that with skewed propaganda rather than lay the facts as know before us. The imminent threat from Iraqi WMDs were their only legal route to war so they used that even though I am sure they knew these WMDs were NOT there. They knew many thousands of Iraqis including women and children would die horrible deaths and they knew American, British and Australian servicemen would lose their lives too. Yet they used this lie and even while undermining international law and future trust in authority pressed their arrogant motivations on all of us.
This is not about the rights and wrongs of Saddam Hussein being deposed. The whole world including most Iraqis wanted this because he was a ruthless dictator who used torture and terror on his own people and who as has been said a thousand times used chemical weapons against them killing thousands. That is not at issue. What is at issue is the legality of an invasion which resulted in even more deaths and mutilation, destruction and destabalisation affecting many who were NOT part of the apparatus doing the torturing and killing and the manipulation of secret service information, media and populations to come to the conclusion that war was necessary based on at best dubious facts. Naturally this is one of the most important decisions a country has to come to and the way this was handled didn't allow a rational decision to be made. Most authorities, with various biased groups in the background were pushing for this war and using whatever outlets they could to forward their purpose. Voices saying that this wasn't AUTOMATICALLY correct were attacked and called un-patriotic or anti-american, pro-saddam, pro-terrorist etc. America is not going to invade all the other dictatorships and ugly regimes that exist around the world, only those that have a strategic interest for them. These regimes will no doubt fall in time. The regime in Zimbabwe is looking very shaky right now and that in Saudi Arabia may not be around very long either. But it will be the populations of these countries who themselves overthrow their tyranical masters and I am sure they wouldn't welcome the devastation of their countries by an outside force or the random slaughter and/or dismemberment of their civilians and children.
What most of us were exercised about before the invasion of Iraq apart from a perceived arrogance and callousness regarding injury and loss of life that would inevitably follow a rush to war, was the potential undermining of international law and the putting at risk of future generations for the sake of narrow strategic interests. There are sadly many ugly regimes around the world who do these things to their people. And there have been many in the past that America has actively supported. In this case they acted but no one should believe that they will act in ALL such cases and that should tell us something - they acted in this case for reasons OTHER than humanitarian ones. We don't have to rely on this logic - almost every indicator and even public statements at times by politicians show that this was done for narrow strategic interests. But we were sold this slaughter on the basis of certain fears which now very much appear to be false. Why should it matter what pretext was used for war you might say. But the very fabric of international law and factors which maintain a stability throughout the world may well have been heavily undermined and now that the precedent has been set by the most powerful nation in the world, be damaged beyond repair.
Whether for good reasons or bad what America has done is set the precedent that the UN can be bypassed and the right of first strike used if it is based on secret service "information" that "shows" an imminent threat to any nation from another. Other nations may well use this system to justify all kinds of attacks on other nations in the future. The seriousness of this breach in international law may not be seen as serious by the majority of people content with the result of this particular war but future generations may not agree it has had no consequences. The UN was set up so that disputes could be settled without war. The US has had a half-hearted and at times antagonistic response to the UN for years. Now it may well have delivered a body blow to it. And will the US now take upon itself the role of judge and jury over the whole world? Why should we allow? In my view we were totally within our rights to protest this incredibly dangerous development. |
