Counterfeit Freedom

Contributed by wild_heart_of_fire on Monday, 2nd June 2003 @ 07:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The roads that lead you home are winding
The heart that takes you there is broken
The soul that speaks to you is crying
The old wounds now begin to reopen

If all the stars fell would you still pretend to be?
If all your dreams came crashing down would you still smile at me?
And all you do is pretend to exist
All you feel is all you’ve missed.
Don’t look at me anymore
Don’t fake that smile and all it stands for
You’re just pretend
A mannequin
Forget all you’ve lost
You know the cost
You forgot how to live
You forgot how to breath
You’ve forgot everything
Including me.
Just runaway again
Pretend to be free.

This cuts through the bull I like it, it reminded me of of things I had begun to drift off toward mannequin land, thanks for writing it.
