(She Sleeps) Like a Fish Out of Water

Contributed by Adam_Gaucher on Tuesday, 6th August 2002 @ 12:12:34 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Charles Mingus starts in on bass.
I walk with ease sliding
side to side ways.  I
guess they could almost consider me
dancing as I roam the streets to me.

Welcome Buddy Rich on percussion.
My hand raises to a rhythmic snap.
Sun glass shading the thirsty eye, which
speaks to the spirit of music this evening.
The destination is loving somewhere,
hidden in the city.  Beat breaks, and then...

Saxophone explosion, it's Parker and Lateef!
I don't have enough limbs to
contemplate my excitement, but I try, while flying,
roaming the streets I am dancing now.
This fact I am admiting myself.  The
destination draws close, the light(ning) is brash!

A trumpet's blaze though Gillespie's lips.
The head swings back with eyes forced
closed.  Imagining a female beautifully
sleeping, wanting to kiss, and be kissed
in(stant) love, I awake with my
mind combining rhythm and delight,
drawing a road map after all.

Unknown, the pianist, a Pepper and Green,
another reed enters, in good taste six strings.
I continue my fiasco, sidewalk snapping,
and spinning, parting concrete crowds.
At the end of this gawking ocean, I can
see her lone bench, her resting place, where
she sleeps beauty's breathing.

The tempo kneels, allowing sweet
woman sing.  Holliday, the female, takes
vocal duties smiling harmonically.
I blanket her numb lips, she awakes
tasting rain.  Our eyes melt meeting
again forever, as we dance and proceed
roaming the streets of this city.

(The band peels forth again an energetic jam.
Entered has Gaucher to complete the
endless duet).

AH! *sigh* Amazing how you bring jazz to life with words... I cannot express how this made me feel.... I am so excited to have found someone who's writing is so incredibly unique... This was absolutely fantastic... })({ ~Adreana
