I find him under the branches of a dying oak tree.
He looks like he is finally at rest.
On the barren limbs above sits a raven.
At his heels a wolf licks his hand.
The ground near by is marked by his struggles.
He has tamed the wolf.
Brought the raven to his side.
Faithfully they remain, for they know he will not abandon them.
This is only a moment before his rebirth.
Night has fallen and I watch both creatures continue their vigil,
Neither has moved, simply waited.
A wolf and a raven, often feared, have lovingly tended his body.
Watching I have forgotten how much time has past.
For a moment I look up at the skies.
The clear blue of summer is now the stormy grey of winter.
And when I look back, they are gone.

Wow, that's really great. It's very captivating, mysterious.
