Deep in the recesses of my mind,
Next to where my doubts you/'/ll find,
A glimmer of hope, a nugget of truth,
A growing desire to be with you.
My mind it fights, my heart it pleads,
and like a book my intentions reads
That joy and peace, I might have found
Even while pain and despair were all that abound.
So tell me now and tell me true...
What on earth do I mean to you?
Am I just part of a bigger game,
Or is what I see one and the same?
My past though fuzzy, I can/'/t deny
Has shaped my doubts even when I try..
And has made the simplest things become a chore
Even when I know exactly what I fight for..
Time ticks away into the night,
I gird myself up and prepare for a fight.
A fight however that may never come
The chances are slim but again there are some.
So tell me now and tell me true...
What exactly do I mean to you?

You ask a dangerous question! But the lesson of your lovely poem is not lost. Better to know for sure than to live on illusions! |
