Some walk softly through this life, finding thier way with many on a well trodden path that winds around the citadels of those gone before.
Some choose to cut their own trails, and walk alone a path of discovery, leaving a narrow scar in thier wake. But though we build great canyons of steel, and bridges of granite, like a daisy pushing its way up through a concrete sidewalk, nature will outlive us to overgrow the path behind us.
When your arms are too tired to wield your saber, and your body longs
for the comfort of a stranger, the mainstream will still welcome your footfalls, and no one will have noticed your absence.
In time, we all return to the fold, but now and again, we may notice the flattened grass wandering off the trail, and for a moment our spirit will long to follow, remembering when we were young enough to walk alone.

Indeed. the vacuum softly /'/pops/'/ on our departure from adventure (or return to the familiar, depending on your emphasis), but to have been there, and done that!
Warmly -and sagely - worded,

Beautiful. A song comes to mind: Forever Young, Bob Dylan. |

I don/'/t want the physician to tell me everybody dies.
I want the physician to tell me this when I/'/m eighty-five.
Just exactly what you wrote.
And, I/'/m guessing I/'/ll say, excuse me, could you say that again close to my ear, I didn/'/t hear a word you said young lady. (even though, I did hear every word!)
this made me smile!
Peace! |

It/'/s strange that I don/'/t like contemporary poets but most of those I like are on this site. Your/'/s is a seasoned and refined pen and this is an excellent poem. I really liked it and it got me on a personal level |

Read again...don/'/t care that I already commented. This one tugs at me. The piece itself, ironically, is a diversion from your norm. You have diverted from your /'/well trodden path/'/, and you have chosen well.
