Thank You (For Leaving My Life)

Contributed by Deidra_Carmichael on Friday, 29th April 2016 @ 11:23:40 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Thank you for leaving my life
Never to open the door of nostalgia again
For I/'/ve learned that to do so only brings grief
And what I/'/m really in need of now is relief

Remember the boy who I grew to miss
Well it/'/s better that I forget he exists
For when we went down that road we thought we/'/d kindle friendship anew
But all I did was mourn, cry over the thing I had to do

And if I ever tried to do the same
With you I know that I/'/d be put to shame
Cuz when I look at you I see a boy that/'/s still drawn to me

And though I miss the bond that we first shared
Reinforcing it wouldn/'/t show that I care
For I would want to walk down memory lane
And cause trouble that would make both of us go insane

So thank you for letting me be
Now I realize that you were trying to set me free
And when I didn/'/t want to let go
You used your wisdom and showed me that it was the only way to go

So now that I have truly moved on
I can be grateful for the way you had gone
So let me thank you now after all this time
For knowing virtue was much more worth it than trying to be mine

Thank you for leaving my life
And proving to me this decision was right

Some things never seem to make sense, but in the cold light of day we see them more clearly.
I feel you have illustrated that fact nicely here.
Thanks for sharing

A poem that I think rings true with all of us.
Few have the strength to let go and move on. Often solely because they are isolated and nothing more. The poem had a nice flow and filled with honesty and angst. Very well written.

I think this is spot on for many people who have parted ways with that one person who still occupies our thoughts. Lingering, ready to move in an instant. But reasons led to the present and forward we move. Awesome piece of writing.

Everyone can relate to this and you captured it beautifully. In some ways proves you are smarter than most for the fact that you saw the best course to take regardless of how painful it was. Great write and keep up the good work
