Unhook the phone.
Shut off the light.
Turn up the music.
Don’t cry.
Pick up the knife.
Slide it across your skin.
It tingles.
Don’t cry.
Push harder.
Feel the stinging.
Watch the blood dribble down your arm.
Don’t cry.
Stare at the wound.
It doesn’t hurt.
Put the knife back in.
Don’t cry.
Listen to his voice ringing in your head.
Can’t stop it.
Push harder.
Don’t cry.
You deserve it.
You hurt him.
Now it’s your turn to bleed.
Don’t cry.
The music fades.
The tears stop.
You drop the knife,
And start to cry.
