The Hollow Coin

Contributed by Invierno on Monday, 11th April 2016 @ 08:46:25 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

There is coal to ward the winter chill,
potatoes enough to see us to spring,
my child smiles and laughs;
nothing is wanted,
all is well.

Heat cloys this silk shirt,
my shelves, freezers overflow,
alone, my child groans at another digital death,
sorrow caroming wall to marbled wall,
mocking my gain of everything
while losing all.

Sad. I felt the sorrow. Well done.

"alone my child groans"
"mocking my gain of everything while losing it all"
Bittersweet words...but always the bitter comes before the sweet. You have but to wait.

Invierno:
Running just to stay in place.
Losing ground despite the pace.
Time like tide each day erased;
Twas built in leisure; lost in haste;
May your sorrow be replaced;
In kind by those whose life you grace.

If your affection toward others could heal you, you would never again know pain my friend.

How easy do we become ungrateful of our abundance, How easy do we for get our hardships, and how easy we want more without shame, this is what your pen is telling me, good lesson to be learned here. God bless

Greetings
Rus

The title drew me in like a fly to the web. Once there I was also caught, entranced in the majesty of your words.
Fantastic write, mesmerising in its beauty
May your mind overflow with more ideas

Steve

True - but when a man has very little he values every little thing - even something as simple as a pencil
